Utility Systems Operator
There are two (2) positions located in the Operations Section of Engineering Service at West Texas VA Health Care System - George H.
O'Brien, Jr.
VA Medical Center in Big Spring, TX.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
o Operate and repair high pressure power boiler plant, chiller plant, HVAC graphic control system, and a water treatment plant o Operate a boiler plant and all associated equipment o Monitor instruments, controls and measuring devices o Calculate fuel efficiency by determining the amount of fuel being used and quantity of steam being produced o Use a flue gas analyzer and make necessary adjustments based on findings o Collect boiler water, boiler feedwater, and condensate samples; perform required tests; log results; and make necessary adjustments o Fire power boilers on natural gas and fuel oil and make adjustments to burner cam, regulators and fireeye controls o Disassemble, clean, and repair burners o Start, stop, and adjust centrifugal chillers and all associated equipment o Disassemble and clean chiller tubes, repair flow switches, and thermometer wells o Operate, treat, and repair cooling towers o Repair malfunctioning pneumatic control valves o Dismantle, inspect, and repair a variety of equipment o Perform other related duties as assigned Work Schedule:
