The Supervisory Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist is assigned to the Biomedical Engineering Section of Engineering Service and comes under the supervision of the Supervisory General Engineer or Chief Engineering Service, for The West Texas VA Health Care System at the George H.
O'Brien, Jr.
VA Medical Center, Big Spring, TX.
This position specializes in the service management of complex biomedical instrumentation used in the diagnosis, treatment-therapy and care of patients at this medical center, primary care clinics and extension clinics.
As the Supervisory Bio-Medical Equipment Support Specialist, the incumbent is responsible for the supervision, scheduling and/or directing the activities of the biomedical section of Engineering Service.
These duties include not only the daily administrative functions, but also long range planning, staff consulting, equipment evaluation, and special studies and assignments.
The incumbent is responsible for the performance of vital and complex medical instrumentation including functional operation as well as patient/operator safety.
The incumbent will almost always work independently and have the primary responsibility for the maintenance, proper operation installation, testing, and repair of one or more classifications of vital and complex medical instrumentation.
This equipment shall include, but not be limited to (1) Radiological equipment.
including general radiology, CT scanners, fixed and portable X-ray machines.
(2) Monitoring and Life Support equipment.
including portable and system equipment to monitor patient vital signs, EKG machines, defibrillators, etc.
(3) Respirator Therapy equipment.
including respirators and anesthesia machines.
(4) Clinical Laboratory equipment, including chemical multiple analyzers, atomic spectrometer, blood cell counters, etc.
(5) General Medical equipment, including sterilizers.
pill counters.
infusion devices, dental equipment, etc.
Work Schedule:
Monday thru Friday 8:
00am to 4:
30pm .
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
