Supervisory Accountant

This is a full time permanent position in Fiscal Service at the West Texas VA Health Care System, Big Spring, Texas.
The position is that of Chief Accountant and as has full responsibility for the accuracy of the financial accounts of the WTVAHCS and its six Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
Incumbent directly supervises Accountants and Accounting Technicians in Fiscal Service.
The scope of authority and responsibility of the position covers a complex and diverse system of fully integrated proprietary accounting, budgetary accounting and planning, cost accounting, revolving fund accounting, and trust fund accounting at the field station level.
The incumbent is responsible for analyzing, supervising, and directing the recording of all transactions in the General Ledger Accounts and for providing a complete accounting, on an accrual basis, for assets, liabilities, operating, inter-office, and budgeting accounts.
Incumbent plans, initiates, and directs the preparation and verification of summary reports, and reconciliations developed from accounting records to insure monthly submissions of complete and accurate financial data to VISN 18, Central Office, and the VA Financial Service Center.
Incumbent furnishes management with all required and requested financial statements and offers technical advice to operating officials on all phases of accounting including the analysis and interpretation of pertinent accounting data.

Work Schedule:
Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:
00am to 4:
30pm.
However position may require work beyond this schedule and travel.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
